One week is in the books, and the posers are already sweating their bankrolls while the early leaders look to press their edge. If you want to survive Sunday in this league, you better know which overpriced deadweight to banish to the pine and which live dogs have the bite to cash a ticket.

Boston Alliance at Tampa Sea Captains — proj. 155 to 158

This is the sharpest tilt on the board, featuring a razor-thin three-point spread. Justin Callow is penny-pinching under center with Jayden Daniels ($1.2M), rolling out Kyren Williams ($2.0M) and Tee Higgins ($1.3M) while leaving serious cash on the sideline: Tony Pollard ($4.2M), along with banged-up assets Michael Pittman ($2.5M, QUESTIONABLE) and Kyler Murray ($2.2M, QUESTIONABLE). Callow is also missing Tyreek Hill ($0.2M, OUT) and A.J. Brown ($1.3M, INJURY_RESERVE). Meanwhile, Mike and Ron Klepacky are paying the luxury tax for Drake Maye ($10.5M), backed by heavy lumber in Derrick Henry ($2.7M), Saquon Barkley ($2.1M), and Amon-Ra St. Brown ($1.8M), all while Brock Bowers ($0.9M) sits on ice. Gabriele is banking on pedigree, trotting out Dak Prescott ($5.0M), Christian McCaffrey ($2.9M), and George Kittle ($2.0M), despite having Jordan Mason ($5.5M, INJURY_RESERVE) eating cap space on the bench and Jakobi Meyers ($0.8M, QUESTIONABLE) hobbled. Perez counters with hometown signal-caller Caleb Williams ($5.0M), Javonte Williams ($2.0M), and Chris Olave ($1.5M), keeping TreVeyon Henderson ($1.9M) and an ailing Zay Flowers ($1.5M, QUESTIONABLE) in reserve. Joe Borell’s Finatics have an explosive arsenal featuring De'Von Achane ($2.7M), Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($2.3M), and Justin Jefferson ($1.1M), allowing him the sheer luxury of parking Jordan Love ($3.5M) and Quinshon Judkins ($2.0M) on the bench. Joe Christiano is bringing raw star power to the table with Jalen Hurts ($5.0M), Kyle Pitts ($4.5M), and James Cook ($2.9M), leaving Keaton Mitchell ($2.5M) watching from the pine. The swing factor: Whether Christiano's top-heavy payroll can out-duel Borell's remarkably balanced lineup.

Mike Gabes put up 191 points last week and has an 0-1 record to show for it—the ultimate bad beat. He is throwing Lamar Jackson ($2.3M), Chase Brown ($1.8M), and CeeDee Lamb ($1.3M) at the board, while Xavier Worthy ($3.9M) gathers dust on the bench. Dominic DiYanni’s Lightning boast heavy artillery of their own with Bijan Robinson ($5.0M) and MarShawn Lloyd ($4.0M), though Dominic is crossing his fingers on Nico Collins ($1.6M, QUESTIONABLE). The swing factor: If Collins plays at full strength, Gabes might regret not cashing in Worthy's ($3.9M) upside.

Montclair Heights Moonwalkers at Maine Machine — proj. 144 to 131

John J. Perez sits pretty at 1-0 and marches out Trevor Lawrence ($5.0M), Ashton Jeanty ($1.9M), and Breece Hall ($1.8M), ignoring the absence of Zach Charbonnet ($3.5M, OUT). Jared Luciani’s Machine mustered a league-low 65 points in Week 1 and needs Justin Herbert ($5.0M) and George Pickens ($1.9M) to wake up. Making matters wilder, Luciani has Travis Kelce ($2.0M) and Josh Jacobs ($1.8M, DAY_TO_DAY) parked on his bench. The swing factor: Luciani benching future Hall-of-Famer Kelce ($2.0M) in a game Maine desperately needs to cover.

Jersey City Crop Dusters at Newark Immigrants — proj. 167 to 128

The book sees a lopsided affair here. Mike Donnelly’s Crop Dusters bring absolute heat with Jonathan Taylor ($3.2M), Tyler Shough ($3.0M), Jahmyr Gibbs ($2.9M), and Ja'Marr Chase ($2.0M). John Pappa Perez is pinned in the corner; he has Josh Allen ($5.0M), but D'Andre Swift ($1.8M, QUESTIONABLE) is nicked up, and he is shelving Kyle Monangai ($5.0M, QUESTIONABLE) alongside Joe Burrow ($1.3M). The swing factor: Donnelly’s elite backfield tandem putting this contest out of reach by halftime.

Two Things to Watch

First, check the clock: lineups lock Thursday, Sep 17, at 8:15 PM ET. Don’t get caught sleeping at the window with a locked roster and dead money.
