NJFFL Game Balls — Week 2

Jaxon Smith-Njigba blew the roof off Week 2 with a staggering 68-point explosion that rendered every other individual effort this weekend an afterthought. It was the kind of transcendent, slate-wrecking performance that leaves opposing owners staring blankly at their screens in utter disbelief.

Naturally, Joe Borell of the Florida Finatics did not have to lose any sleep over who earned his Week 2 game ball, immediately handing the prize to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Dropping an earth-shattering 68 points, the Seattle wideout turned in an absolute clinic on the field, carrying Borell's squad on his back and establishing a sky-high benchmark that very few players in this league will ever come close to matching this season.

Over with the Tampa Sea Captains, co-managers Mike and Ron Klepacky awarded their game ball to Davante Adams. The Los Angeles Rams receiver posted a monster 50 points, operating as an unstoppable primary weapon on the outside and handing the Klepacky duo the kind of elite, week-winning production every front office dreams about on draft night.

Mike Gabes of the Alaska Lookouts followed suit by sending his weekly honors directly to Dallas wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb shredded the opposition to the tune of 44 points, delivering big play after big play and making Gabes look like a certified genius for leaning so heavily on his premier playmaker in crunch time.

Bryan Perez of the Chicago Icemen shifted the focus over to the backfield, awarding his Week 2 game ball to New England running back TreVeyon Henderson. Henderson punched his way to a tough, hard-earned 33 points, handling the dirty work between the tackles and providing the punch Perez needed to keep the Icemen rolling.

As for the rest of the league, the stinginess is frankly appalling. An astonishing eight franchises apparently could not locate a single commemorative marker, much less an ounce of gratitude for the players suiting up on their rosters. Shame on the silent managers who failed to hand out a ball this week: Pat Gabriele of the West Hartford Wolverines, Dominic DiYanni of the Louisville Lightning, Mike Donnelly of the Jersey City Crop Dusters, John J. Perez of the Montclair Heights Moonwalkers, Joe Christiano of the Philadelphia Phreaks, John Pappa Perez of the Newark Immigrants, Justin Callow of the Boston Alliance, and Jared Luciani of the Maine Machine. Step up your locker room etiquette, gentlemen, or start coaching guys who actually deserve a pat on the back.
